Dearest Fellow Witches,
Witch? Did I just call you a witch? Why yes, I did.
Witches are people who have been demonized throughout history and continue to be misrepresented today. That is why I am reclaiming the word and embracing its identity. Someone recently said to me, a witch is a “woman in total control of herself.” I rather like that.
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always been drawn to witches, magic, the mysteries of the universe, and the paranormal. Almost all the books I read are speculative. It is super rare for me to read a purely contemporary or historical novel. Which is why I’ll probably only ever write in some sort of fantasy genre. Currently, I am writing contemporary fantasy novels, but at some point I would love to do a full epic fantasy series.
Creating worlds with words is one of my favorite things to do.
This past week, I finished the first draft of my fourth novel. It is a project I started working on because I knew I needed to, for my healing. Although it is not a replica of anything about my life, there are themes interwoven into the characters and story that helped me express hurt parts of myself. I’m proud of this novel and know in editing I can make it even better than it is now. However, it is going into the drawer while I complete the final edits of Crone’s Right.
Crone’s Right is with my editor. Once that editing process is complete, I’ll have a better idea of when it will be released.
As I am going through the final edits, I am really excited about how this story turned out. It was by far the most challenging book I’ve ever written. As you’ll see when you read it, I wrote two different stories that had to be woven together. It is very different from the first two books in the series, but not in a bad way, just different.
If you haven’t read any of my books yet, you’ll want to start with Maiden’s Light, the first novel in the Lunar Soul Cycle. It is available in ebook at Amazon and KU, and paperback at all major book retailers. If you read it, and especially if you love it, please leave a review! Reviews, especially with pictures, helps increase a book’s ranking and encourages the algorithm to share them with other readers.
If you’re interested in the vibes of Crone’s Right, here’s the mood board I had on my desktop the entire time I was drafting the novel.

What witchy books do you love to read? Liselle Sambury is an author I adore. Her Blood Like Duology is a mix of science fiction, fantasy, and rich Trinidadian heritage. I’ve loved every book of hers I’ve read. Delicious Monsters and Tender Beasts are also excellent novels, both of which contain elements of horror, paranormal, witchcraft, and mystery. I highly recommend her books.
Until next time, my friend.
Yours in Magic,
Brittany
